High strain rate response of rubber membranes
WebJun 1, 2006 · The modelling of the constitutive behaviour of hyper-elastic rubber-like materials that are characterized by large strain responses and by the absence of irreversible strains during loading–unloading cycles has been extensively researched since the seminal works of Treloar, Rivlin, Saunders and others. WebThe strain rate sensitivity reflects the timescale required for these polymer chain re-orientations to take place. At low strain rates the polymer chains have sufficient time to re-orientate themselves and the storage modulus of the rubber is low. At high strain rates, the deformation of the polymer chains is restricted to bending and stretching

WebJul 24, 2024 · The rubber specimens experience large deformation during material testing, which would lead to the de-bonding or destruction of strain gauges. Two methods were considered to measure the strain. The first method was similar to that performed by Selvadurai ( 2006) and Selvadurai and Shi ( 2012 ). WebApr 29, 2009 · Young’s modulus of a normal human TM is reported as 45.2–58.9 MPa in the radial direction, and 34.1–56.8 MPa in the circumferential direction at strain rates 300 – 2000 s − 1 . The results indicate that Young’s modulus has a strong dependence on strain rate at these high strain rates. Issue Section: Technical Briefs Keywords:
